Our Services
Bespoke Gates to Suit Your Property in Plymouth
Adding security and undeniable curb appeal, our range of handmade wooden Gates is the perfect way to bring privacy, security and style to your home in Plymouth, Devon, or Cornwall. In addition to our wide range of stylish timber Gates, including 5-bar, Feather Edge, Oak, Hardwood, and Softwood options, we can also install Composite or Metal Gates to suit your needs and preferences.
Unlike many other Fencing Contractors, we don’t treat your gate as an afterthought. Rather than simply creating a point of access, we ensure that the gates we construct and install are durable whilst perfectly complementing the aesthetic of your home and fencing. All of our designs are bespoke and completely unique to your needs.
If you are also considering having Fencing installed, we can create a gate to meet your requirements and match the style of the Fencing you’ve chosen, whether that’s Feather Edge, Commercial Fencing or any other type of fence.
Gate Design & Planning
To begin our process for your Gate Installation, we will:
- Visit your property to assess your existing gate for any damage
- See if you also require new Fencing
- Inspect your gate to see if we can save it with repairs instead, if you prefer
- Measure the width of your entry point to see how much material will be required
- Discuss your size requirements, e.g. single or double door access, and design & material preferences, such as 5-bar, Feather Edge, Oak, Softwood, Hardwood, Composite or Metal
- Provide you with a free, no-obligation quote
Unlike many other Fencing Contractors and Companies, we include the price of any Gates you require in the meterage quote we provide you with.
Fencing & Gate Installation
Whether we’re just installing a Gate or coordinating it with brand-new Fencing, our installation process involves:
- Taking down & disposing of your gate & fencing if required
- High-quality pre-treated incised timber with a tanalising treatment for increased longevity
- An outer frame with 45° angles & diagonal braces to support the gate to prevent it from dropping
- All gateposts & fence posts are placed at least 2 feet into the ground for improved stability.
- The base of the posts are fitted with a Postsaver Dual-Layer Barrier Sleeve for added 20-year Postsaver rot protection.
- Clean Stone is installed at the bottom of the posts for drainage purposes.
- Postcrete is poured to support the posts & provide additional strength and durability
Aftercare & Peace of Mind
After we have installed your Gate, we will:
- Clean the site thoroughly, ensuring everything is neat and stored away
- Walk along the gate and fence line with you to confirm you are fully satisfied
- Explain maintenance tips for your gate and fencing
- Offer advice on registering your 20-year Postsaver Rot Protection Guarantee
As and when necessary, we are more than happy to come back to paint your gate and carry out ongoing maintenance. In addition to Fencing & Gates, we also deliver a number of professional, high-quality gardening services to customers in Plymouth, Devon, and Cornwall, including complete Landscaping, Turf, Garden Sheds, general Garden Maintenance and Paving services.

Project Highlight
A Gate Installation Project in Plymouth
Feel free to take a look at one of the projects we completed in Plymouth, which involved a Wooden Decking Installation, along with balustrade handrails and a gate.
The Challenge
These customers in Plymouth had a very young child and a steep drop from their patio doors, so they wanted a deck of a similar height to their doors. The challenge they then faced was the fact that there were steps leading from their Decking to the rest of their garden.
They wanted balustrade handrails to prevent their young children from falling off the edge, and a gate to keep them on the decking safely without access to the garden. The whole week also had the added challenge of continuous rain and wind.
The Solution
The solution involved building a picket gate to match the rest of their new decking, which could be locked to prevent their young child from falling down the steps. We also installed handrails for safety at 1.2 metres high, meeting British standards, ensuring the decking height was perfect for a seamless flow from the kitchen door onto the decking. Highest-grade materials were used, with joist hangers and a Damp Proof Course (DPC) on top of the timbers to protect against rot.
The Results
This is now a lovely area for their young child to safely play with peace of mind for the parents, so they can open up their back doors without the worry of their child hurting themselves. Take a look at the results for yourself! Our clients were delighted:
“We are over the moon with the new decking fitted by Shane […] Excellent communication, reliable, friendly and professional. 1st class workmanship, will recommend to friends and family. Overall 5 stars thank you. Amazing job. 👍”
